Introduction to Mechanical Prototyping

The requirements for this project were to have at least one mechanism of our choice and a box-like structure to contain the mechanism. My automaton is based on the "This is Fine" meme, in which I used cams, cam followers, and gears. I chose them because I wanted to have multiple moving components that could be raised linearly, which could only be achieved by having two gears spinning two shafts that had cams on them. The cams also allowed for different times at which the flames would move up and down, which helped with the appearance of the automaton.
